Where to Find the Facts Yourself
Most agents avoid “risky” questions regarding crime and neighborhoods. They do this because if not careful, they can easily violate fair housing law. Brokers don’t give opinions: we share facts.
Below is a list of resources that are among those I’ll point you to if you have questions about crime or what’s planned for an area – topics where I’m simply not the expert. Reach out to Kevin directly if you’re having trouble finding the official data for your area.
Safety is subjective, but crime data is not. Below are crime maps from local police, so you can look at the reports yourself instead of relying on a broker’s “vibe.”
Brokers are legally restricted from commenting on a neighborhood’s “vibe.” Instead, here’s where to see what’s planned for an area – new roads, rezonings and development – straight from the local planning department.
Instead of relying on third-party “ratings” that may use opaque algorithms, I’ll point you to the state’s own data. You can look up North Carolina schools’ academic growth, teacher certifications and facility safety on the official NC DPI site. You can read more about Triangle School Options here.
